JULY 2007 Orange County Woodworkers Meetings

I had been invited to be a guest speaker for the month of July at the Orange County Woodworkers Association. I was asked to come and talk about the process of guitar building to all their members. I took finished guitars and guitars in progress, along with woods, luthier jigs, tools and fixtures. There was so much to show and tell for the time slot given to me. At the end of the meeting, I was invited to go back and speak again at their August meeting.

I had many questions regarding bending woods and fine inlays, such as rosette making and purflings and bindings. During the August meeting, I had decided to talk a little about the fox bender and the process of bending sides and bindings. I also focused my talk on rosette making for classical guitars. It was a real attention grabber for all. It was lots of fun to share with such talented woodworkers and I would like to thank them for such a warm invitation and welcome.

AUGUST

The Headlsburg Guitar Festival ( www.festivalofguitars.com ) was a great success. I t was a great experience to exhibit my guitars and to meet all the talented luthiers.

SEPTEMBER

The La Guitarra California Guitar Festival ( www.laguitarracalifornia.com ) gave me an opportunity to meet some of the most outstanding classical guitar players, such as Pepe Romero and Roland Dyens. It turned out to be a very exciting weekend overall.
