La Guitarra California 2009
It was another wonderful weekend filled with beautiful guitars,
great concerts, and an opportunity to make new friends. My highlight
was having Berta Rojas
stop by and play one of my guitars. (check out the photos)
By the way, the birdseye maple guitar she is playing will be
on display as of December 18th, 2009 through late March 2010
at the Oakland Airport as part of an Oakland Museum guitar exhibit
project.

It was a great pleasure to have along side of me my great
Catalan guitar maker friend, Josep
Melo from Barcelona. We had a wonderful time with the large
crowd of visitors who came to the festival. It was a huge success
for us, and I would like to thank all of the people who stopped
by my table to play my guitars, and of course, those of you
who went home with one.
The mini concert where classical and flamenco guitarist, Scott
Wolf, performed with two of my guitars was a big crowd pleaser
too. I will make sure to try that again in two years at the
next festival.
The next festival is coming up on September 25th at La
Guitarra CA in Santa Maria, CA. The concert and workshop
line up is going to be fabulous. Come and stop by to play some
guitars.
-Update: Monica wins an "Industrial
Award" from Austin
Hardwoods in Santa Ana in recognition for her
ukulele work.

I have had the pleasure and privilege to be invited to
show guitars at various functions held at the wonderful
Latino book store, Libreria
Martinez in Santa Ana, CA. This month a fund raiser
was held at the book store where flamenco guitarist, Omar
Avalos, played one of my flamencos during the event.
The following day, he and his dancers performed at the
Gypsy Den in Santa Ana, where they had a full house and
played all night. . . Great show!! . . . hey, who’s
guitar is that?

GFA International Convention and Competition 2008
August 5 – 10 2008
My participation in this year’s GFA was a great
success. I was able to meet all the other participating
luthiers and see some of their great work.. Some of them
travelled quite far from out of the country to exhibit
and be part of the convention.
The afternoons and evenings were filled with outstanding
concerts with some of the most talented guitarists. It
was such a great opportunity to be immersed in such an
invigorating energy and love for the classical guitar.
My guitars were played all week long. Some of them were
even played in after hours parties, such as flamenco jams.
I look forward to participating in next year’s GFA,
so, see you in New York.
